Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel is now ‘at war’ following an unprecedented assault by Hamas militants from Gaza. As the conflict escalates, celebrities around the world are using their voices to weigh in on the deadly attacks and violence taking place on both sides. Indian celebrities Swara Bhasker and Kangana Ranaut have shared their thoughts on the situation.
Swara Bhasker spoke against Israel while supporting Palestine. She took to her Instagram Stories and wrote, “If you have not felt shock and horror at Israel’s unending atrocities on Palestinians, the forcible occupation of Palestinian homes, the forced evictions, the bigotry and violence of settler Israelis, the murder of Palestinian children and teenagers, the decades long blockade and bombing of Gaza and civilians in Gaza, including bombing of schools and hospitals (not to mention the apartheid and occupation), then I’m afraid your shock and horror at Hamas’ attacks on Israel seem a bit hypocritical.”
This isn’t the first time Swara has spoken against Israel. In 2021, when there was violence in East Jerusalem between Palestine demonstrators and Israeli forces, Swara had tweeted, “Israel is an apartheid state. Israel is a terrorist state. Enough said…Free Palestine.”
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut has a totally opposite reaction. After the recent Hamas attack, the actress wrote in her story, “It is impossible to scroll through SM and not get jolted/scarred/appalled or deeply disturbed looking at Israeli women pictures, even their corpses are being raped and molested by terrorists. One such corpse of a woman soldier is being paraded naked, it broke me into a million pieces, my heart goes out to Israel and it’s girls and women, every martyr deserved a dignified death.”
