Makarand Deshpande Unfiltered On Razakar, Monkey Man, Shah Rukh & Aamir Khan

The Razakar & Monkey Man actor gets candid on his incredible cinematic journey of theatre, films & Bollywood.

Makarand Deshpande stands tall in the list of tremendous talents in field of Theatre, Hindi & Marathi Cinema nationwide. The multilingual actor made his on screen debut with the famous television show Circus and has starred in numerous stellar hits like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Sarfarosh, Makdee, Swades, Khatta Meetha & many more. The artist has acted in 50 short plays and 40 full-length plays including Sir Sir Sirla, Joke, Maa In Transit, Krishna Kidding, and Shakepearcha Mhatara.

In an exclusive interview with Lehren Retro, Makarand talked about his recently released films, Razakar & Monkey Man and also elaborated about his experiences and equation with co-actors Shah Rukh Khan & Aamir Khan.

While commenting on his movie Razakar, Deshpande revealed that the film portrays Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s patriotic journey and vision to merge Hyderabad State with the Union Of India. The actor lauded Patel’s decision of sending in troops of the Indian Army in order to take over the Hyderabadi Nizam’s private army of Razakars, which in turn is considered as the best geo-political decision in the history of Indian history & politics.

On speaking about his Hollywood project Monkey Man and its release in India, the artist expressed that the Censor Board should take all the convenient steps to check if the film hinders peace & political values in any way and believes the board will take a sensible decision for the following. He also appreciated his co-artist & Slumdog Millionaire star, Dev Patel for his hard work, fine cinematic sense & the zeal to deliver his 100 percent in filmmaking.

The 58 years old actor made his debut with SRK’s Circus & Aamir Khan’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak on television and big screen respectively. The Khatta-Meetha star said that Shah Rukh Khan’s aura is still the grandest-greatest & his aura plus stardom is irreplaceable. Makarand added that Aamir khan is a real perfectionist as his hardwork and story-selection for films is always on point. He also unveiled the fact that the Ghajini Star is supremely grounded in nature and holds a down to earth persona.
