Renowned Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor has added her voice to the ongoing discourse surrounding the Israel-Hamas conflict. Kapoor expressed her views by resharing a post made by supermodel and television personality Gigi Hadid on Instagram.
Gigi Hadid, whose heritage includes Palestinian roots, has passionately denounced the Hamas attacks on Israel, labeling them as an ‘unjustifiable tragedy.’ She articulated her hopes and dreams for the people of Palestine while underscoring that the act of terrorizing and taking innocent lives does not align with the ‘Free Palestine’ movement.
Sonam Kapoor opted to share Gigi’s post on her Instagram story, allowing the post to speak for itself without the addition of her own comments. However, in a separate story, the celebrated ‘Neerja’ actress shared her strong conviction that violence and death do not lead to positive outcomes.
“Violence and death don’t lead to anything. They simply destroy any trace of humanity within us,” Sonam emphasized.
Kapoor delved further into her perspective, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, who regarded non-violence as a powerful tool for the strong. She highlighted the inseparable connection between non-violence and truth, acknowledging that while attaining complete nonviolence in thoughts, words, and actions may be a challenging endeavor, the pursuit of this ideal remains a noble and essential journey.
In the meantime, the conflict between Israel and Hamas has now extended into its fifth day. The toll resulting from the relentless rocket attacks and ambushes carried out by the terror group in Israel has surpassed 1,000 casualties, with over 2,800 individuals sustaining injuries and 50 individuals reported as missing or taken hostage.
Hamas initiated an unexpected assault on Israel on October 7, launching an extensive barrage of rockets that targeted the southern and central regions of the country. Simultaneously, they conducted a ground invasion aimed at civilian areas. Numerous militants affiliated with the Palestinian group Hamas infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip, assuming control of several Israeli towns.
