Sharad Kelkar On His Orotund Voice, Drawback Or Advantage?

Sharad Kelkar's voice has overshadowed his acting skills. He wants people to know him for his acting and not only his voice.

Prabhas starrer “Salaar” earned a very good amount in Hindi theaters too, and its credit goes to not only Prabhas but also the voice behind him. The voice has put conviction into Prabhas’s action in a Hindi-language film and hence made it more realistic. And the man who gave his voice to the movie is none other than, ‘Sharad Kelkar’. Sharad Kelkar is an actor who works in Hindi and Marathi films and, more than that, he is famous for his voice. This actor has dubbed many Tamil, Telugu and Hollywood films in Hindi. But now his voice is the only thing which has become his identity and the actor is quite disappointed about it.

For the past few years, Sharad Kelkar has deliberately kept himself away from dubbing. His voice has overshadowed his acting skills. He wants people to know him for his acting and not only his voice. He said, “I haven’t dubbed for a Hollywood film for ages. I want to concentrate on my acting career. I want people to notice my acting skills over my voice. Acting is my main profession and passion.”

Sharad Kelkar is known for some of these prominent works, like “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior” where he played Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj”, in the series “Family Man” he played Arvind, in “Bhuj” he played RK Nair and many Bollywood movies. He is one of the leading faces in the Marathi film industry. He skillfully portrayed Baaji Prabhu Deshpande in the movie “Har Har Mahadev”.

And even after many such characters, he has become a dependable voice actor in the industry. He made an exception to the Disney+ Hotstar series “The Legend of Hanuman ” as there he had full liberty to portray Raavan with his knowledge and talent. Dubbing was done first and animation was created later according to voice. It was a unique idea of Graphic India production house. The character was made in quite a unique way that he said yes and gave his super-impressive voice to the Raavan character. But now this voice has become a disadvantage to this actor, but soon he will establish himself as an actor rather than a voice actor.
