Selfiee Opens To Disastrously Low Numbers; Marks Akshay Kumar’s Worst Opening Over A Decade

Selfiee has opened to a disastrously low numbers of Rs. 3 crore on the first day.

After six consecutive flops, there was lot riding on Selfiee’s box office for Akshay Kumar. Not just the star and his fans, but even industry people also had high hopes from this film. But the wait to finally put an end to this cycle of flops continues. Selfiee has opened to a disastrously low numbers of Rs. 2.60 crore according to industry tracker sacnilk.

This is definitely not a good sign for Akshay and the producers of his upcoming movies, as each of actor Akshay Kumar’s 2022 theatrical releases — Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj, Bachchhan Paandey — that tanked at the box office, at least had a fairly good opening on the first day. Even his previous theatrical release Ram Setu which did average business, opened to Rs. 15 crore on the first day.

And if this report of Rs. 2.60 crore opening figure turns out to be true, then it will mark the worst opening for Akshay Kumar film over a decade.

Directed by Raj Mehta, Selfiee is an official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Driving License, which starred Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. It stars Akshay Kumar as a movie star and Emraan Hashmi as a RTO office who is also Akshay Kumar’s huge fan. But a small misunderstanding put them against each other.
