Ever since a biopic on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was announced people were curious to know who would essay Atalji. Well, the most asked question is now answered by the makers of the movie. The actor to play three-time Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is none other than legend Pankaj Tripathi. The biopic is titled Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon Yeh Desh Rehna Chahiye – ATAL.
Pankaj Tripathi join hands with the makers to headline a much-awaited movie on one of the best prime ministers ever. He teamed up with the director Ravi Jadhav who is three times National Award winner. Dropping the major update on his Instagram account Tripathi shared a picture with Ravi Jadhav, Vinod Bhanushali, and Sandeep Singh.
Alongside the picture, he wrote, “‘bhaarat jameen ka tukada nahin, jeeta jaagata raashtrapurush hai.’ ye panktiya likhanevaale mahaan neta shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee jee ki bhoomika mujhe bade pardepar saakaar karane ka avasar mil raha hai, ye main apna saubhagya maanta hoon! #Atal jald hi.”
Speaking about playing Atalji, Pankaj Tripathi said, “It’s my Honour to portray such a humane politician on screen. He was not just a politician but so much more, he was an excellent writer and a renowned poet. Getting to be in his shoes is nothing but a privilege for an actor like me.”
Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon Yeh Desh Rehna Chahiye- ATAL revolves around the journey of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji. He was an honorable leader of India and one of the co-founders and a senior leader of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). He served as the prime minister of India for three terms. His first term was for only 13 days however he returned to the position in 1998 for 13 months and then served for the third and final time from 1999 to 2004. Vajpayee passed away on 16 August 2018 at the age of 93.
