Biopic On Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee Announced, Deets Inside

Story of prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be brought to big screens in a collaborative work of Sandeep Singh and Vinod Bhanushali

Filmmaker Sandeep Singh and Producer Vinod Bhanushali have come together to paint the story of one of the greatest prime ministers of India – Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the silver screen. The makers announced the biopic dropping a motion poster on Twitter. The biopic on Atal Bihari Vajpayee is titled ‘Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon, Yeh Desh Rehna Chahiye – ATAL’.

The movie is an adaptation of Ullekh N P’s ‘The Untold Vajpayee: Politician and Paradox’. The biopic film will go on floors in early 2023 and will be released on Christmas 2023, which marks the 99th birth anniversary of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Sandeep Singh and Vinod Bhanushali will bring the life of a prominent Prime Minister to big screens. 

Sharing a motion poster on Twitter, Sandeep Singh announced the big news. He wrote: “‘Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon, Yeh Desh Rehna Chahiye – Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.’ Presenting #ATAL, a film on the life story of India’s most exemplary leader, renowned poet, and a visionary.”

Talking about the film, Vinod said, “I have been a great fan of Atalji all my life. A born leader, a statesman par excellence, a visionary. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was all the above. His contribution to our nation-building is unparalleled, and it is our great honour that Bhanushali Studios Ltd is bringing his legacy to the silver screen.”

Adding to that Sandeep Singh shared, “Being a filmmaker, I feel that cinema is the best medium to communicate such untold stories, that will unveil not only his political ideologies, but his humane and poetic aspects, that made him the most loved leader of the opposition as well as India’s most progressive Prime Minister.”

The cast of the film is under the curtain, it has not been made official. We are on the lookout for who will be the lucky actor to enact the legendary Atalji in the movie. The makers will soon announce the actor, who will portray the role of the late Prime Minister, and the director who will craft the story into a film. 

Coming over to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he served as the prime minister of India for three terms. His first term was for only 13 days however he returned to the position in 1998 for 13 months and then served for the third and final time from 1999 to 2004. Vajpayee passed away on 16 August 2018 at the age of 93.
