Govind Namdev, throughout his professional life, has done many prominent roles, but the one that gave his immense popularity is Siddeshwar Maharaj from the movie “Oh My God”. OMG movie put lights on other sides of Indian temples and administration. It made people think about their beliefs and, indeed, that movie brought a revolution in the religious beliefs of Indians. Not only the audiences but also the actors that worked in the movie were influenced due to the film. And Govind Namdev is no exception to that. After “OMG”, Govind Namdev’s life underwent many changes. The person who used to have many religious beliefs stopped spending money in temples.
Talking about the need for such a movie and the changes the OMG franchise brought, Govind Namdev said, “Words would be less to praise the director of this movie. He very well knew how to design the film to balance the reactions of people over the kind of subject he was showing in the film. And generally, people oppose such kind of topic by criticizing it. But nowadays, parents and teachers are taking a step ahead to show children such movies so that they can differentiate between good touch and bad touch.”
He also shared the changes the movie made in his personal life. “When I was studying the people related to the subject of OMG, I started hating those who blackmail innocent people and take advantage of their religious beliefs. I was a very religious person earlier. Every time I used to go to the temple, I donated money there. I stop doing that after OMG. I stop following people blindly”, he explained.
He shared an incident during the release of OMG when he went to Siddhivinayak Temple and pandit told him, “What have you done? People are not coming here and not donating at all.” And he replied, “I didn’t do anything. We object only to the bogus people and those who are genuine will stay. Everything will be sorted if we are genuine and temples are genuine.”
