Nora Fatehi Revealed Why She Didn’t Get Any Bollywood Lead Projects; “Filmmakers Casting Only Four Girls”

Nora Fatehi opened up about how difficult it was for her to convince filmmakers to give her a chance. Says, Filmmakers casting only four girls."

Nora Fatehi is a well-known dancer, actress, and model who has gained popularity in Bollywood. Nora first gained attention with her impressive dance skills and performances. She participated in the reality show “Bigg Boss” and later appeared in various Bollywood films, showcasing her dancing talent in hit songs like “Dilbar” from the movie “Satyameva Jayate” and “O Saki Saki” from the movie “Batla House.” Apart from her songs in the films, Nora has not appeared in many Bollywood films as a lead actress. And she wants to explore more in her acting career. She has finally opened up about her journey in Bollywood and revealed why filmmakers didn’t sign her as a lead actress.

During a conversation with News18 Showsha, Nora Fatehi opened up about how difficult it was for her to convince filmmakers to give her a chance. She noted that it wasn’t because of her dancing abilities, but rather because there are not many filmmakers who are willing to take risks and give new talent a chance.

The 31-year-old dancer said, “I don’t think because I dance is why they don’t want to cast me. Our main iconic heroines in Bollywood have been dancers who perform beautifully. And they excel in dance numbers, right? That was just part of being an iconic heroine. I don’t think it was because of that.”

She further said, “I think it was always, oh, I don’t know. It’s almost like, Let’s see who will take the chance on me, and if she delivers in all the categories, meaning, the acting skills, the presence, the aura, and the ability to express the language skill, then we’ll all jump on the opportunity. So I think it was who would have had the balls to do it first—to take a chance on me first. I think that was what everyone was waiting for.”

According to Nora today the industry has become very competitive. There are only a few films a year. And sometimes what happens with filmmakers is they don’t think outside of what’s in front of them. So if only four girls are doing films, and they’re going in rotation, and all four are getting projects nonstop, the filmmakers will only remember those four, they won’t think beyond that”.
