Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday was a debacle. The film struggled to make good figures and earn remuneration at the box office. Liger was released in theaters on 25th August and was streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in four languages. Now the Hindi version of the sports drama is also streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from October 21 onwards.
The streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar bought all the rights to stream the movie. Reportedly, the OTT channel bought the rights for an amount of Rs 65 Crore for Liger in all languages. The movie premiered digitally four weeks after its theatrical release. Until now it was streaming in four languages – Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada. The OTT platform is now streaming the Hindi version as well.
Liger is the story of a Mumbai slumdog boy who aims to become a boxer. The Telugu star plays a titular role in the rags to riches story of the MMA champion. The movie marks the debut of Vijay in Bollywood and the first pan-India movie of Ananya Panday.

Boycott against Liger too played a major role in the failure. This sports drama pan-India film marked Vijay’s debut in Bollywood. Helmed by Puri Jagannadh Liger was a debacle earning a total of rs 88.4 crore worldwide.
The movie was massively promoted across the country. It had faced a boycott trend on social media and failed to make business in theaters. However, it received mixed reviews, while Vijay Deverakonda’s performance was praised Ananya Panday was trolled for poor acting.
Liger is written, directed, and co-produced by Puri Jagannadh. Karan Johar produced the film under his Dharma production banner in association with Puri Jagannadh’s Puri Connects and Charmee Kaur. The movie was released in theaters on 25th August 2022. It is now available to watch online in the Hindi language on Disney+ Hotstar from the 21st of October.
