Karan Johar In Trouble, Pakistani Singer Of ‘Nach Punjaban’ To Take Legal Action

Pakistani singer Abrar-ul-Haq warns Karan Johar and T-series to take legal action for his song ‘Nach Punjaban’

Pakistani singer Abrar-ul-Haq owns the right to ‘The Punjabaan Song’ from Karan Johar’s impending movie Jug Jugg Jeeyo. He had already expressed his dismay with Karan Johar and T-series for stealing his song ‘Nach Punjaban’. Back in May, he was assured to be credited but looks like that isn’t enough for him and he won’t stop here. Abrar-ul-Haq has stated that he will take legal action and will take this case to the court.

Abrar-ul-Haq once again remarked that he did not sell the song and blamed the makers for pocketing his masterpiece. He articulated that giving someone a line of credit in a YouTube video is not enough to make up for taking their work. He uploaded a video on the micro-blogging site Twitter, where he revealed his plans of suing T-series and Karan Johar.

In the video, Abrar-ul-Haq said, “A lot of fans have been asking me ‘why haven’t you gone to the court against Karan Johar and T-Series for stealing your song Nach Punjaban. The answer is yes. I’m going to the court, don’t worry. Merely saying that the credit has been given because the song is well-written and would make their movie a hit. I never gave you the song, I never gave anybody the rights to my song. It belongs to me, so I’ll get it back and I’m coming to the court, see you there.”

The singer from Pakistan captioned the video “stop stealing songs” and warns the makers of the film by saying “I am going to Court”. Earlier, the singer had accused the makers of the film of plagiarism when the song was revealed. However, the T-series label, who released the song confirmed that they have acquired the rights and will give credits to the respective owners.

On May 22, Abrar-ul-Haq tweeted, “I have not sold my song ‘Nach Punjaban’ to any Indian movie and reserve the rights to go to court to claim damages. Producers like Karan Johar should not use copy songs. This is my 6th song being copied which will not be allowed at all.”

Back then, T-series had acknowledged and said, “We have legally acquired the rights to adapt the song Nach Punjaban from the album Nach Punjaban released on iTunes on 1st January 2002 and is also available on Lollywood Classics’ YouTube channel, owned and operated by Moviebox Records Label, for the film JugJugg Jeeyo produced by Dharma Productions”.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo is directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Viacom 18 and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The forthcoming drama romance movie stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Kapoor in lead roles.
