If Govinda had been in Sunny Deol’s place in the film “Gadar,” and he delivered the iconic dialogue, “Hamara Hindustan zindabad tha, zindabad hai, aur zindabad rahega!” How’s it looking? Sunny’s unique energy and ability to deliver powerful dialogues make it difficult to imagine any other actor, including Govinda or anyone else, in his role for the film.
Earlier, it was reported that Gadar director Anil Sharma had offered the film to Govina before Sunny. And after this news spread, many reactions came from the people. After that, Anil Sharma reacted to it and clarified that Sunny was the first choice of all time for that film.
The filmmaker reacted by saying that Govinda had never been offered the role. He revealed that once he had narrated the script of Gadar to Govinda, the actor got scared.
In a interview with Bollywood Hungama, Anil Sharma clarified that Govinda was not officially selected for the role of Tara Singh in the movie “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.” However, the director revealed that he did discuss the film’s storyline with Govinda. He explained that during the making of “Maharaja” in 1998, he narrated the story of “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” to Govinda. Contrary to popular belief, Govinda was never formally cast for the role. In fact, Anil Sharma highlighted that Govinda became apprehensive after hearing the narrative of “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,” leading to his decision not to pursue the role. This sheds light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics and offers insight into why Govinda was not part of the final cast for the iconic film.
The filmmaker added that Govinda wondered how someone could pull off a film of this kind and scale. This was a time when there was no way of recreating Pakistan; nobody had attempted it for a major part of the film. So Sunny Deol was always the first choice.”
