“Gadar 2” is generating excitement all around, with eager fans anticipating its release. The film’s makers are leaving no stone unturned in promoting the movie. In an exclusive interview with Lehren, director Anil Sharma candidly discussed various aspects of the film, expressing both his excitement and concerns. Among his concerns is the role of the Maharashtra government in supporting the film industry.
When asked about the state support he received during the movie’s filming, Sharma acknowledged that various states extend help and provide subsidies to filmmakers. However, he openly requested that the Maharashtra government to initiate a similar subsidy program.
Sharma’s sentiment came through in his statement: “Kash Bombay mein bhi ho sake aisa, jaisa Ahmednagar tha – aisa, hum kuch bhi chhote shehron mein Maharashtra mein bhi jo aap chaho sab mil jata hai, siwaye thora sa. Bombay shayad isliye ke itne badi hai, itne vishal hai, kisi ke control mein nahi hai. Tu government ke bhi control mein nahi hai, tu shayad nahi ho paata. Lekin ek cheez tu kar sakti hai sarkar – thoda subsidy shuru kar de sarkar jaise dusri sarkar karti hai.”
As the release of “Gadar 2” approaches, anticipation is growing for the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster. The movie will continue the storyline of Tara Singh and Sakina. Notably, Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2” is poised for a box office clash with Akshay Kumar’s “OMG 2.”
Sharma’s plea for governmental support underscores the vital role subsidies play in fostering the film industry’s growth. It also highlights the broader conversations within the entertainment sector about the significance of state backing and incentives in promoting artistic endeavors.
Apart from this star-studded cast, Gaurav Chopra, who plays a special role in the film, admitted to feeling hesitant at the beginning.
Speaking to Free Press Journal, Gaurav expressed, “It has been an absolute pleasure and honor to be a part of a brand like Gadar. The first film had established itself as one of the most blockbuster movies of that time, and Gadar 2 promises to be just that. To work with stalwarts like Sunny sir and to experience his warmth on set was fascinating. It is a special role, and all the scenes are special. In fact, this is one of those roles that define special roles in a film. The length or the number of the scenes doesn’t matter.”
