Karan Johar’s upcoming film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, has many features, one of which is that the film brings the iconic jodi of Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan back to the silver screen after ages. The film also features Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and veteran actress Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. The cast has started the film’s promotion, and it will also help us to know the stories of veteran actors from their time. Recently, Dharmendra talked about reuniting with Jaya Bachchan after many years on screen.
Jaya Bachchan made her acting debut with the 1971 film Guddi, which also featured Dharmendra. In the film, he featured as a Bollywood star, and Jaya portrayed the role of a young girl mesmerised by the star. Directed and produced by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Amitabh Bachchan also featured in a cameo role.
It was said about Dharmendra that during the shooting of Guddi, Jaya confessed that she had a crush on him. and asked whether it was true that she would hide behind the soga when he came on the sets of Guddi.
He quoted, “This is her love and respect speaking. I’ve known Jaya and Amitabh for a very long time now. I still remember the fun times that we had while shooting for Sholay. Bahot mazaa aata ttha. The outdoors were like picnics. The entire unit was like one big family. I got the same feeling while doing Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani.”
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani marks Karan Johar’s return to directing after a seven-year absence (his most recent project was the 2016 film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil). Earlier on Wednesday, Karan posted behind-the-scenes videos from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and other projects he has directed. The film is set to hit theatres on July 28.
