Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has been facing so much criticism and is the target of trolls after she found herself at the centre of political controversy after attending a JNU event and donning a saffron bikini in the movie Pathaan. The actress finally spoke up about the issues in a recent interview after maintaining a respectful silence. Deepika stated that she did not respond earlier since she was preoccupied with work and that she was not affected by it.
Speaking with TIME Magazine, the 37-year-old actress was asked about facing political controversies over her orange bikini in Pathaan. Reacting to the same, she said that she didn’t know if she was supposed to feel something about it. But the truth is, she doesn’t feel anything about it.
Let us tell you, Deepika faced so much criticism after she visited JNU University in 2020 and extended support to students who were attacked at that time. Even before the film Pathan, she had to face a lot of trolls because she wore a saffron-coloured bikini for the song Besharam Rang. Several Hindu groups and BJP leaders sought to ban the film because, according to them, it insulted the Hindu community and Sanatan culture.
Talking about Pathaan, it performed remarkably well at the box office, grossing more than a staggering Rs 1000 crore globally. Deepika’s next appearance will be in the upcoming movie “Project K,” which also stars Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. Additionally, she is working on the action movie “Fighter,” starring Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor.
