Adah Sharma Performs Shiv Puja Amid ‘The Kerala Story’ Controversy

Actress Adah Sharma has found a way to deal with the negativity and bashing that has come her way post-release of “The Kerala Story”. Adah has gained immense popularity after the release of this “controversial” film which touches upon the subject of love jihad. Adah plays the role of a young Hindu girl from Kerala who is brainwashed by her friend to convert to Islam and is later forced to join ISIS. The makers claim that the film is based on true incidents and that thousands of women in Kerala were forced onto this path.

“The Kerala Story” has been getting good support from right-wingers and the film has also been made tax-free in states like Uttar Pradesh. However, in some states, the film is finding it hard to get distributors owing to the controversial subject of the film. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee even announced a ban on the film in her state. Meanwhile, actress Adah Sharma is accepting compliments and subtly ignoring the hatred she is getting. Adah took to her Instagram today and shared a video of herself performing Shiv Puja. She can be seen sitting in a temple and chanting mantras in front of Shivling. She captioned the video, “The secret of my energy. The energy that allows me to accept bouquets and face bans. Thank you all of you for making me yours.”

In another post, she wrote, “Standing ovation in theatres , the honourable PM mentioning our film #TheKeralaStory, critics and audience applauding my performance , HOUSEFULL messages from so many of you, bumper opening ! I could never have dreamed of so much. All your dreams for me are coming true. #Greatful. And for the few still calling #TheKeralaStory a propaganda film,saying these incidents do not exist even after watching testimonials of several Indian victims and their parents, my humble request, Google two words ISIS and Brides…maybe an account of white girls narrated to you might make you feel that our Indian movie is real.”

A user wrote in the comment section, “Kangana Ranaut k baad bollywood ki dusri HINDU SHERNNI”, while someone commented, “We need more actors like you.”

Another Instagram user wrote, “I am from West Bengal, Didi ham apke sath hai chaye kuch bhi ho jaye ham har ek kolkata me rehne vale vyakti ko ye movie dikhayenge”

A comment reads, “What an actress, pure combination of culture and simplicity. If India Raises actresses like these who promote our culture and promote truth . Then it would be a greater achievement than just winning an Oscar. Congratulations guys we made the right girl famous.”

“The Kerala Story” is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. It features Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani and Siddhi Idnani. This film was released in theatres on 5th May.
