Back in 2023, it was announced that Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh would be taking over the Don franchise following the steps of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan in the film. While many were excited others slammed the makers for replacing the OG actor with Ranveer Singh. However, as per the latest reports it is now believed that Ranveer wasn’t the first choice for the film.
Ranbir Kapoor Was The First Choice For Don 3
As per a report in Times Now.com, not Ranveer Singh but “Ranbir Kapoor” was the first choice for Shah Rukh Khan starrer popular franchise, Don 3. As per the report, after Shah Rukh Khan rejected the script of the film, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar offered the role to the Animal actor Ranbir Kapoor.
Reportedly, Bollywood superstar and OG actor Shah Rukh Khan wasn’t “convinced” with the script of the film and opted out, rejecting the film. After the Jawan actor refused to do the film, Farhan Akhtar then approached Ranbir Kapoor for the role. However, unfortunately, the Animal actor also rejected the role. And then eventually, Farhan signed up Ranveer Singh for the role who happily accepted the offer to be a part of the movie.
Ranveer Singh On Replacing SRK In Don 3
Speaking to Deadline, Ranveer Singh previously opened up about taking up the franchise, he said, “It is the handing over of the baton of one of the most loved and revered franchises of Hindi cinema. The significance of that is not lost on me. When the announcement was made, as expected, it came with its share of skepticism. But throughout the history of cinema, this has happened. Even as recently as perhaps when the Bond franchise changed hands and they announced Daniel Craig as the new Bond, it came with its fair share of skepticism. So, this is only natural”.
As per the reports, Don 3 will be released in 2025.
