Ayushmann Khurrana Recalls His Journey From Media To Bollywood ‘I Have Always Enjoyed The Baby Steps’

Dream Girl Movie actor expresses about his dream coming true from being in media to rocking Bollywood, says ''success is when preparation meets opportunity, so I was well-prepared''.

Ayushmann Khurrana is undeniably one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood today. From his discerning choice of scripts to his exceptional execution of characters on the silver screen, the actor has mastered it all. Khurrana made his acting debut with the unique film ‘Vicky Donor,’ directed by Shoojit Sircar, and received immense appreciation for his performance and impeccable dialogue delivery. He is also credited for delivering several super-hit films at the box office, such as ‘Badhaai Ho,’ ‘Bala,’ and ‘Dream Girl.’ This multi-talented artist has earned numerous ‘Filmfare Awards’ for his acting and singing. His critically acclaimed movie ‘Article 15’ was also the most highly awarded feature film in 2019.

The actor shared his journey from a career in media to becoming a prominent figure in Bollywood, all without any industry connections or acquaintances. In a recent interview with Campaign Asia Pacific, Ayushmann responded to the question of whether it was impossible for him to enter the industry without a cinematic background in Bollywood. He said, ‘Not really. I always enjoyed taking baby steps toward Tinseltown and Bollywood. I studied journalism, did theater, worked in radio, hosted television shows, and eventually transitioned into films. So, I think those early experiences really helped me realize that I was being accepted at each and every phase.’

Khurrana also mentioned how he used to observe Bollywood from a journalistic perspective and shared stories of interviewing actors during that time, all while auditioning for films in the same journey. He added, ‘Of course, hard work is always a prerequisite, but I believe that success occurs when preparation meets opportunity. So, I was well-prepared.’ He firmly believed that things fall into place at the right time and in the right place.

Ayushmann’s brother, Aparshakti Khurana, also followed in his brother’s footsteps by transitioning from a career as a reporter with a Hindi news channel to becoming a professional film actor. Aparshakti made his Bollywood debut in ‘Dangal,’ starring Aamir Khan, which remains one of the most significant hits produced by the Indian film industry to date.

On the professional front, Ayushmann’s recent release, ‘Dream Girl 2,’ enjoyed substantial success at the box office and marked Khurrana’s comeback after a brief low phase in his film career.”
