Alia Bhatt adds another feather to her cap, she has been awarded the Best Actor at the prestigious Priyadarshni Academy Smita Patil Memorial Award. The annual function of the Priyadarshni Academy was held virtually via a webinar on September 19. This year, Union Ministers, Govt. of India felicitated the achievers virtually at the Academy’s Awards presentation ceremony.
Alia Bhatt is currently in the best phase of her career. She has been awarded the prestigious award for her exceptional contribution to the world of Indian cinema. On the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Priyadarshini Academy, the award was handed over. Priyadarshini Academy is a non-profit, socio-cultural and educational organization.
Alia said on the occasion, “I want to thank the Priyadarshni Academy for bestowing me with the Smita Patil Memorial Award for Best Actor. It’s a tremendous honour to be here today, one I’ll cherish for the years to come. India has the most incredible legacy of the arts, and I’m eternally grateful that our work is a part of it. Cinema teaches us the importance of believing in the beauty of dreams, to follow them with dedication and humility, and never quit.”
Sharing the certificate on her Instagram stories, the Brahmastra actress wrote: “Grateful and honored to receive the Smita Patil Memorial Award. Thank You, everyone”. The certificate reads, “A very talented and multi-faceted actor, Ms. Alia Bhatt has carved a niche for herself in modern Indian Cinema through her outstanding and critically acclaimed performances in Hindi films. She has also been a successful brand ambassador of several prestigious brands. We, at Priyadarshani Academy, applaud and celebrate her admirable contribution to the entertainment industry.”
Priyadarshni Academy launched the award in 1986 in the memory of actress Smita Patil. The honorable accolade is given to national and international recipients annually. The Smita Patil Memorial Award is awarded to an Indian actress for her contribution to Indian cinema in the period prior to the ceremony, irrespective of a particular performance. For the unversed, before Alia Bhatt, Taapsee Pannu was honored by this accolade in 2020.
