Alia Bhatt is the daughter of one of the most successful filmmakers, Mahesh Bhatt, who has given Bollywood many top-notch films. However, there was a time when Mahesh had no money left and became addicted to alcohol.
In an interview with Elle, Alia revealed that her father faced a string of flops at one point. She said, ‘He barely had any money, and he was battling an addiction to alcohol.’ She added that while he eventually gave up drinking, he experienced many ‘ups and downs in his life and career.’
Alia further stated, ‘My parents struggled to reach a point where I could enjoy their privilege. I do recognize that.’ The Dear Zindagi actress mentioned that if she stopped getting films tomorrow, she wouldn’t complain and would always acknowledge the great opportunities she has had.
Earlier, in an interview with Instyle Australia, Alia openly discussed nepotism in the industry and shared her thoughts on it. She said, ‘My initial response to it was very defensive because I just felt like, you know, I work hard, so why the question?’ She continued, ‘But I think with time and age, you realize that there’s a lot of struggle in the world, and there is a case to be made for acknowledging the head start I had, an easier path to get into the room.’
On the work front, the actress was last seen in Karan Johar’s magnum opus ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,’ alongside Ranveer Singh. The film was a big hit at the box office and collected a staggering amount. Next, the actress will be seen in ‘Jigra,’ directed by Vasan Bala and produced by Karan Johar.
