Twinkle Khanna is known for her witty and unbiased comments. She is also unfiltered while sharing her thought. The actor-turned-author is known for her candid nature and unabashed writing. She pens her thoughts in her blog post titled ‘Tweak India’. However this time she opted to be a reviewer for her husband’s film. Twinkle Khanna chose to review Akshay Kumar’s latest released film Raksha Bandhan.
She watched the film a day before the release in a special screening. Akshay Kumar has always maintained that for him his wife Twinkle Khanna is one of his biggest critics. Well, the tale of the brother and sisters bond left her emotional. She has challenged the moviegoers to return dry-eyed from the theaters after watching the film. Reviewing the movie on her Instagram handle she shared the trailer of the Aanand L Rai directorial.
In her review Twinkle wrote: “Raksha Bandhan made me laugh in the first half and cry through the second. A movie about the India we all pretend doesn’t exist. A reality that we wish didn’t exist. We have changed terms, from ‘dowry’ to ‘gifts’ but in homes across social-economic strata, variations of the custom loom large.”
She further added: “The wonderful Aanand Rai has skillfully built a world where siblings tease each other, support each other and ultimately triumph together. The challenge with altering mindsets is that these conversations circulate largely among the already-converted. It’s perhaps only cinema that has the power to burrow into the minds and hearts of people across the board. Raksha Bandhan may make you smile and crack up, but I dare you to leave the theatre dry-eyed:) #rakshabandhan”
Raksha Bandhan released in theaters today on 11th August 2022 which marks the same occasion of the Indian festival. The family entertainer stars Sadia Khateeb, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth, Sahejmeen Kaur as the sisters of Akshay Kumar whereas Bhumi Pednekar plays his love interest. It is directed by Aanand L Rai and produced under the banners of Zee Studios, Colour Yellow Production, and Cape of Good Films.
