Ajay Devgn Extends Solace On The Demise Of Indian Footballer Chunni Goswami

Yesterday, legendary Indian football player Chunni Goswami passed away in Kolkata. Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn extended his condolences on the death of the 82-year old player. Read below to know more.

A day back, Indian Football lost a legendary player, Subimal Goswami also known as Chuni Goswami who died in Kolkata because of a heart attack. Several sports stars have tweeted and expressed condolences on his demise. However, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn took to social media to mourn his death. The star was expected to be seen in a movie titled Maidaan in which he played the role of another legendary footballer Syed Abdul Rahim and Ajay also learned about Chuni Goswami while filming the movie.

The Golmaal actor took to social media to express sorrow over the death of the legendary footballer who has won many of the nation laurels. Ajay expressed condolences over his death and also mentioned that he had heard about Chuni Goswami’s contributions to Indian Football and sport in general while shooting for Maidaan.

Ajay was also to essay the part of a legendary footballer, Syed Abdul Rahim, in Maidaan. The Singham actor was shooting for the same before the lockdown got imposed because of the novel coronavirus.

Extending his condolences to the legendary player, Ajay Devgn tweeted, “While shooting Maidaan, I became acquainted with football legend Chuni Goswami’s contribution to the sport. Heartfelt condolences to his family.#RIPChuniGoswami #Maidaan #IndianFootballLeague @iAmitRSharma @BoneyKapoor @IndianFootball.”

Speaking of Chunni Goswami, he played over 30 International tournaments for India and scored 9 times for his team. He even joined first-class cricket and played Ranji Trophy between 1971 to 72. 

Talking about Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan, the film also features Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in a pivotal role. The movie will be bankrolled by Boney Kapoor and directed by Amit Ravindrenath Sharma.

The film was slated to release on November 27, 2020 but amid the halt in the shooting due to the lockdown, it is now scheduled to release on December 11, 2020.
