South Actor-Comedian Visweswara Rao Passes Away At 62

Tamil actor and comedian Visweswara Rao, passed away at the age of 62, after battling a prolonged illness.

On Tuesday, April 2, the renowned supporting actor and comedian Visweswara Rao, aged 62, passed away after battling a prolonged illness. He received acclaim for his exceptional portrayal of comedic roles in 350 Tamil and Telugu films, as well as for his remarkable work as a child artist in over 150 films.

Beyond the big screen, Visweswara Rao also made significant contributions to television serials. According to reports, his mortal remains were placed at his residence in Siruseri, Chennai, allowing the public and his colleagues to bid him farewell. The final rites were conducted on 3 April.

Members of the Telugu film industry paid their final respects to Visweswara Rao, with prominent figures such as Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Nandamuri Balakrishna, and Jr NTR in attendance. Chiranjeevi placed a garland on the casket of the late Pithamagan actor, while Pawan Kalyan expressed his respect with folded hands. Jr NTR was also seen offering his condolences to Visweswara Rao.

Originally from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Visweswara Rao’s family moved to Chennai when he was six due to his early success as a child artist. He gained fame for his role in the Tamil film “Pithamagan,” directed by Bala, which earned widespread acclaim and awards. Throughout his career, he acted alongside legendary actors like NT Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and MG Ramachandran, as well as contemporary stars including Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, and Pawan Kalyan. He took pride in sharing the screen with three notable Chief Ministers – NTR, MGR, and J Jayalalithaa.
