Injured Rohit Sharma To Be Replaced By Mayank Agarwal

Rohit has been ruled out of the following Test series and ODI series against New Zealand. Mayank Agarwal will be Rohit’s replacement in the ODI squad. Prithvi Shaw finds his place in the Test squad.

Indian opener Rohit Sharma who suffered from calf strain during the fifth T20I against New Zealand has been ruled out of the two-match Test series and also from the ODI series against New Zealand. Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal has been called up as a replacement for injured Rohit Sharma for the three-match ODI series. Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw also has been called up for the Test squad to replace Hitman Sharma.

Rohit Sharma, who took over the role of skipper after Virat Kohli decided to rest for the final T20I against New Zealand on Sunday, got injured during his fiery knock of 60 in the first innings. Rohit was in discomfort in the 17th over after he hit a six and that forced him to depart to the dressing room as retired hurt. He did not take the field during the second innings, with KL Rahul taking over the captaincy of the side as India whitewashed the Kiwis by taking finishing of the five-match T20I series with 5-0.Roh

India will be taking on the Kiwis again in the two-match Test series starting from 21st February. According to the reports, Shubhman Gill is also been considered as an opening option by the Indian team. Gill is yet to make his Test debut but has surely impressed everyone by his domestic knocks.

Talking about the Indian Test squad, spearhead Navdeep Saini finds his place in the squad given to his incredible performance during the T20Is. There is no place for leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the squad, as India chose Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja instead.
