Acne is a common problem faced by both men and women. Although we follow various skincare routines and home remedies to avoid skin problems like pimples and acnes. But have you ever wondered that the reason causing acne could be your “brushing habits”.

In a viral video earlier this year, a dermatology researcher explained that the reason behind your acnes could be your brushing routine. The researcher known as Dr.mehss, stated in her video that you must not brush your teeth after washing your face as there are harmful bacteria in your mouth that can break out on your skin and cause acne. Apart from Dr. Mehss, skin expert Dr. Geetika Mittal Gupta also shared the same views in one of her Instagram posts. Explaining why we must brush before shower she wrote, “Acne is primarily caused by factors like excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. While brushing our teeth the bacteria quite often transfers from our mouth to skin causing breakouts. This is why it is advisable to brush before your shower!”

What We Must Do To Avoid Acne?

To avoid such skin breakouts these are some tips you can follow-

  • Keep your hands clean while you touch your face.
  • Proper face cleansing is a must.
  • Wash your face at least 2-3 times a day to avoid acne and remove dirt.
  • Shampoo 3-4 times a week to avoid skin problems.
  • Choose the right skincare.
  • Keep your bedding and towels clean.
  • Use less makeup.
