Ranaut remarked that his name “sounds more Pakistani than Indian,” and asserted that “he is prepared to eradicate Hinduism.”
Zohran Kwame Mamdani, a socialist from New York with Indian heritage, secured the Democratic nomination for mayor of NYC by defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo. Ranaut’s assertion connects Mamdani’s name to a Pakistani identity, suggesting a lack of cultural loyalty. Additionally, she claimed that he represents a danger to Hinduism, which has sparked significant backlash.
