Actor Rohit Bose Roy has immense admiration for Amitabh Bachchan, whom he considers one of the greatest superstars Indian Cinema has ever produced. In an exclusive podcast, Rohit opened up about his personal bond with the legendary actor, recalled their memorable moments together, and revealed why he often tells Abhishek Bachchan that there is one thing he envies about him.

During the conversation, Rohit was asked about the pictures he has shared with Amitabh Bachchan on Instagram and his relationship with the megastar. Responding to the question, Rohit expressed his deep respect for Amitabh, saying that there can never be another superstar like him.
According to Rohit, many stars will come and go, but nobody can replace Amitabh Bachchan. He also revealed that he has told Abhishek Bachchan several times that he feels envious of him for one particular reason.
Clarifying his feelings, Rohit explained that his envy has nothing to do with wealth or success. Instead, it comes from the fact that Abhishek gets to share the same oxygen as his father. Rohit described his admiration for Amitabh as a combination of love, respect and worship, emphasising that his feelings have remained unchanged over the years.

Going back in time, Rohit recalled how his friendship with Amitabh Bachchan developed during five years when the superstar was away from the limelight. While Rohit’s television show Swabhimaan was doing well, he and his friends would often head straight to Danny Denzongpa’s house after pack-up to play tennis with Amitabh.
Rohit admitted that he initially found it difficult to believe that the legendary superstar was sitting with them, drinking lemonade, playing tennis, and even picking up tennis balls for him. Someone he had once regarded as a demigod behaved like an ordinary person around the group.
He also recalled that Abhishek would sometimes feel embarrassed by his father’s casual behaviour around them. These everyday interactions helped Rohit develop a close friendship with Amitabh, and their bond continued to remain strong over the years.
Rohit further revealed that their group included Amitabh Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa, Bunty, Anu and Dara Singh’s son. According to him, they would regularly meet and attend film launches, Filmfare parties and other gatherings together. He added that there was hardly a day during that period when they did not meet.
While acknowledging that Amitabh has countless admirers around the world, Rohit considers himself fortunate to know the superstar personally and experience the person behind the larger-than-life image.

Rohit also spoke about Amitabh Bachchan’s extraordinary career, which has spanned more than five decades. When asked about the secret behind his success, dedication and continued association with Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Rohit pointed to one quality above all: Amitabh Bachchan has never given up.
He praised the actor for facing difficult phases without losing hope and for continuing to work with discipline. Rohit also recalled that Amitabh was advised against entering television because people believed a superstar of his stature should not work on the small screen.
However, Amitabh went on to host KBC, transforming the way audiences perceived television entertainment. Rohit believes the show elevated television to another level and demonstrated that an established film superstar could successfully connect with audiences beyond cinema.
He also highlighted Amitabh’s professionalism, punctuality, and willingness to work long hours, noting that the actor does not complain about demanding schedules and consistently arrives on time.
Calling Amitabh one of the finest actors and biggest stars India has ever produced, Rohit suggested that his greatness extends far beyond national boundaries. He even remarked that an international star like Leonardo DiCaprio would also appreciate the experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan.
