Television Actress Ratan Rajput Reveals Why She Was Away From Lime Light, “Had An Autoimmune Disorder”

Ratan Expressed Her Perspective On The Casting Couch, Referring To It As 'Neeyat' (Motive)

Television actress and YouTuber Ratan Rajput is a well-known face on the small screen. Recently, in an interview with Aaj Tak, she opened up about her experiences with the casting couch and being drugged.

Ratan expressed her perspective on the casting couch, referring to it as ‘neeyat’ (motive). Although she hadn’t previously spoken about it, she emphasized the importance of discussing this topic. As a YouTuber, she receives numerous emails from the younger generation seeking guidance, and she believes it is crucial for them to be aware of the truth and not succumb to desperation. Ratan emphasized that the actions of a few individuals should not tarnish the entire industry, as not everyone is the same. She advised aspiring talents to learn how to filter out negative elements and acknowledged that her presence in the industry is owed to the opportunities and experiences it has provided her.

Ratan recounted an incident during her early days when she attended an audition at a hotel in Oshiwara. Despite performing well, she realized the director was absent, and a lower-level coordinator praised her performance. Intrigued, she continued with the process but felt perplexed when instructed to prepare for a meeting. Later, she proceeded to another hotel for the meeting, where they persistently insisted she have a cold drink, which she reluctantly sipped. Doubts arose, and upon receiving a call for another audition, she felt uneasy. To her dismay, the script turned out to be terrible. Ratan acknowledged the self-doubt that arises in such situations, leading to a fear of missing out on opportunities.

Additionally, in an interaction with India Today, Ratan revealed that she had an autoimmune disorder that forced her to step away from the limelight. She shared that the disorder affected her eyes and, at one point, there was a possibility of losing her eyesight. As acting heavily involves lights and cameras, she needed to prioritize her health and seek treatment. Ratan emphasized the connection between the mind and body, noting that mind-related diseases can have an impact on the body.

Ratan is widely recognized for her portrayal of Amba in the epic television series Mahabharat (2013).
