Shefali Shah Urges Not To Compare Delhi Crime S2 With The First Season

Netflix popular crime drama series Delhi Crime has returned with its second season and DCP Shefali Shah requested fans to not compare it to first season.

Delhi Crime season 2 is streaming on Netflix after it was released on 26th August 2022 on the OTT platform. The first season had a great impact on the audience and is one of the most popular series. The show was named Outstanding Drama Series at the 2020 International Emmy Awards. Now the second chapter of Delhi Crime has been dropped and the lead cast Shefali Shah has requested fans to not compare it to the first season.

The first season was about the hunt for the perpetrators of the infamous 2012 Delhi gang rape. However, the second season has to tell a different story delving into another challenging investigation. The International Emmy Winning first season was universally praised by fans and critics. The crime series has returned to its second season and it is obvious that the audience will compare it with the first one.

Shefali Shah who has reprised her role in Delhi Crime 2 as Delhi Police DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, urges the audience to watch it on its own merit. She said, “We are not aiming to make season one. We have been given a legacy of something so beautiful, leave it there. First and foremost, there is no competition that this has to match up to that. This just has to be good in its own space and I am very proud of what we have made. A comparison might be natural but honestly, my sincere request to people is that they give it its due chance and then decide. What the audience feels is not in our control. But don’t burden it with something else, which is not fair.”

Talking about her character in the show Shefali said, “I get to delve deeper into her. In season one, there was a crime that shook the entire nation and the world and how this team reacted to it. Here, it is not as simple as there is a crime and there are culprits and evidence. Here, there is so much of introspection that it is amazing. In season one, the line was very clear. There was no wavering of moral compass. Here, it’s not as simple as that. It’s far more muddled.”

The six-part series Delhi Crime S2 is streaming now on Netflix. The crime drama stars Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, Tillotama Shome, Yashaswini Dayama, and others. The show is earning applause and being praised by fans and critics.
