Netflix dropped Aranyak starring Raveena Tandon in December 2021. The crime thriller web series caught the audience’s attention and received much appreciation. Fans have been waiting for season 2 of Aranyak but unfortunately, there is a sad update for them. Reportedly, Netflix has decided to cancel Aranyak season 2.
The story of Aranyak is about two police officers investigating the person responsible for the alleged rape and murder of a teenage girl. The series is set in the fictional town of Sironah, in Himachal Pradesh. Two morally upright officers played by Raveena Tandon and Parambrata Chatterjee, battling their own inner demons, try to find the culprit.
A source close to the development informed Bollywood Hungama, “OTT platforms have become even more stringent in terms of what content they feature, and Netflix is no stranger to this. This is a conscious effort in driving more content-driven shows and films that will connect with the audience.”
The source further mentioned, “This isn’t the first show that Netflix has cancelled. Earlier the streaming giant had dropped the second season of the Madhuri Dixit starrer The Fame Game as well. In both cases, apparently, Netflix was not happy with the story, script, as well as the ROI and decided on forgoing development of the second seasons.”
If reports are to be believed, Netflix has decided to cancel the upcoming season of the crime thriller Aranyak. This is not the first series that the streaming platform has announced to cancel. Earlier, we learnt that Madhuri Dixit’s The Fame Game will also not premiere.
As of now, the show has been canceled yet the makers have an opportunity to work on the content of the second season and re-develop it. If it fits at par with the streaming service’s standards Netflix can possibly show the green light to the makers to produce the second season of the intriguing show. However, if things don’t go as needed Aranyak will not return with the second season.
Aranyak is a thriller web series created by Charudutt Acharya and Rohan Sippy and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ramesh Sippy. It stars Raveena Tandon, Parambrata Chatterjee, and Ashutosh Rana in the lead role. The first season of the eight episodes series was released on 10th December 2021 on Netflix.
