Madhuri Dixit made her comeback with digital TV series titled The Fame game which became one of the most successful series of 2022. Released in February on streaming giant Netflix the show had the audience intrigued. The story of a missing actress during her stardom kept viewers glued till the end and want to watch more. Ever since The Fame Game was released and ended abruptly people are waiting for season 2 but we have learned that the second chapter got cancelled.
Netflix Original series features Madhuri Dixit as Anamika the popular actress who goes missing, along with it the show stars Sanjay Kapoor and Manav Kaul. As per the latest reports, the streaming platform Netflix has shelved the show. Moreover, it is reported that Netflix has dropped The Fame Game from its catalogue cancelling season 2 which was set to premiere by end of this year.
The news has been confirmed by a Bollywood Hungama report stating Netflix has dropped the show from its catalogue. The source was quoted as saying, “The Fame Game season 2 was set to commence towards the end of this year. However, now Netflix India has dropped the show from its catalogue essentially cancelling season 2 of the show.”
“Given the way things have been progressing and more filmmakers and content creators approaching OTT platforms, Netflix and the likes have a vast array to choose from. As for cancelling The Fame Game season 2, the reasons could be anything from lack of good content to production budgets. In fact, since season 1 did so well, ideally Netflix would be looking to up the game with The Fame Game season 2. But with the show being dropped it looks like the content wasn’t up to the mark,” the report continued.
The source further added, “Though Netflix India has dropped the show for now, if in case it was the content, the same can be reworked and adjusted. Once done, the second season can be reviewed by the OTT platform and even re-added to their catalogue. Right now, Netflix is concentrating on expanding a catalogue that features good content that will appeal and connect with the mass audience in India.”
Talking about the show The Fame Game season 1 is streaming exclusively on Netflix. The show is touted to be dark and emotional created by Sri Rao. The mysterious drama is an eight-episode series.
