Tiger Bro, What A Bore

Cast: Tiger Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, Shraddha Kapoor

Directors: Ahmed Khan

Producer: Fox Star Studios and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment

I do love Tiger Shroff’s lean body and mean moves. And yes, yes, I do so love the Michael Jackson-Jackie Chan combo that is his USP.

But please, can we progress and begin to include a script that isn’t as super lean as Tiger’s bod?

I mean, look at this storyline. A brave policeman played by dad Jackie Shroff has two sons. Vikram is meek, younger brother Ronnie is all muscle. Like the Ram Aur Shyam formula that’s been faithfully followed over the decades. Vikram is weak-kneed and timid, Ronnie ever ready to thump, thwack and thrash anybody. Ronnie’s line is, ‘If you touch me, chhod dega. But if you touch my brother, phod dega.’ And director Ahmed Khan who has also designed the action, has Ronnie pulverising an army of thugs.

With another line that goes, ‘Jo uniform mein rehta hai, woh form mein rehta hai,’ Ronnie induces Vikram to join the police force.

But no guesses who takes on the local terror boss and then the full-blown terrorist in Syria. No need to think who gets the credit for taking on the baddies and gets promoted. And of course, no time to be expended on whether the peaceful one finally finds that he can throw a few punches too.

Heavy on brotherly ties, Ahmed Khan starts off with a routine but somewhat watchable family scene. But there’s weak comedy from Satish Kaushik. Also Shraddha Kapoor who’s either spouting abuses or wandering into the men’s loo or into traffic in search of network. Laugh because you don’t have a choice.

Jaideep Ahlawat who heads the local terror cell is introduced with mandatory menace.

And then they all head to Syria and that’s when it’s recommended that you too should head home. For nothing but a series of flying kicks and furious fists dominate the rest of the film. Oh wait, there’s a preachy sermon about religion and cross-border neigbourliness that Ronny delivers to Abu Jalal, the terrorist.

Verdict: For a franchise that slips further and further into serving only Tiger Shroff’s USP, Baaghi 3 gets a 2.5* rating.
