While chatting on Capital FM, 35-year-old Katy Perry was told that many followers assume she and former enemy Taylor Swift, 30, are ninth cousins to whom she replied light-heartedly, “Well, we fight like cousins!”
She went on to term the idea “fan fic,” but was shocked to find out that someone had so deeply researched both of their family histories.
“Wow, I’m going to have to ask her if this is true, if we should, like, get blood tests together,” Perry said, adding that she and “spitting into a tube” singer “Lover” will make great entertainment.
It is reported that Swift and Perry ‘s initial feud began after Perry “basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour,” Swift told Rolling Stone in 2014. It was not widely known that until the cover story of the magazine, Swift and Perry even had beef, which then opened the flood gates and encouraged people to believe that Swift’s 2014 single “Bad Blood” was about Perry.
The two ended thier feud and reconciled for Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down,” which was 2019 release.
“It kind of was a process. I sent her a literal olive branch and a note apologizing for my part in all of it when she started her ‘Reputation’ tour. I just thought she was about to embark on something new and big and needed the support,” Perry mentioned while elaborating of their reconciliation.

“As I was finishing mine, I realized how much we have in common, and maybe there’s only five other people in the world that can have the same type of conversations and understand where we’re coming from and that we should celebrate our commonality and our friendship and be able to be there for each other,” she added.
Meanwhile, on Thursday the 35-year-old “Daisies” singer unveiled her upcoming album’s first look and title, Smile. The album debuts on Aug. 14, dropping the title track this Friday.
