What’s The Reason Behind Malia Ann Obama’s Decision To Drop Her Last Name?

Malia Ann Obama, now onwards will be recognized as Malia Ann as she has dropped her last name before entering in the Hollywood industry.

USA’s former President Barack Obama’s daughter Malia Ann Obama has been stepping into Hollywood’s behind the camera world. She has already started taking efforts, and she is half way. Malia just completed her academics through Harvard University. Before entering into the glamorous world of Hollywood, Malia has taken a bold decision to drop her last name in the industry. In the Sundance Institute’s ‘Meet The Artist’ video, she was introduced as Malia Ann. She has removed her last name from her name to leave the legacy of her parents behind.

Talking about her work, many professional experts in this field said that she has caliber, and she is really working hard to achieve her goals. She co-wrote Donald Glover’s Amazon Prime series “Swarm”. She contributed a lot to this. Glover lauded her in a conversation with Vanity Fair, saying, “I feel like she’s just somebody who’s gonna have really good things coming soon. Her writing style is great. We can’t be easy on her just because she’s the [former] president’s daughter”.

Recently she directed a short film named “The Heart” produced by Glover’s Gilga. It is a story between a mother and a son. But many have also targeted her for being a Nepo Kid. “The Color Purple” star Whoopi Goldberg came in support of her. She said, “She knows she’s an Obama, why do you care? Why do you care what she calls herself? If she wanted to call herself Jeanette McDonald, she has the right to.” This bold step by Malia would put a full stop to all those who expressed their unwanted opinions over her career.
