Pop sensation Taylor Swift expressed profound grief and devastation over the tragic loss of a fan before her recent performance in Brazil. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the singer penned a heartfelt note, expressing her overwhelming sorrow upon learning of the devastating news on Sunday.
In a heartfelt statement, Taylor expressed, “I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.”
Taylor’s grief was palpable as she struggled to find words, expressing her deep sadness at the loss of someone so young and beautiful. She conveyed her inability to address this loss publicly during her performance due to the overwhelming grief she felt.
The identity of the fan was not specified in Taylor’s message. However, reports from People magazine suggest that a 16-year-old fan named Ally Garner Anderson, who received a gift from Taylor during her Eras Tour stop in Cincinnati this summer, has passed away after a five-year battle with cancer.
Additionally, according to Folha’s report, the deceased was identified as Ana Clara Benevides, confirmed by Ana’s cousin Estela Benevides. Ana reportedly fainted during the concert and was rushed to the Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital. Despite resuscitation attempts at the stadium and during transport, she suffered a second cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital.
The intense heat during the concert led to several fans fainting, with temperatures soaring up to 60ºC. Taylor had earlier paused her Rio de Janeiro show, responding to chants for water by throwing bottles to the crowd and urging assistance for those in need.
The tragic loss deeply impacted Taylor Swift, her heartfelt condolences going out to the family and friends of the deceased fan, unexpectedly marking a sorrowful chapter during her tour in Brazil.
