New year, new hair for Selena Gomez!

The 27-year-old singer was recently papped shooting a music video in Los Angeles and looked completely different from her usual self. The songstress got her brown hair curled and was seen donning a stunning a gold dress paired with classic black knee-high boots. After chopping off her luscious locks and making an appearance with short hair, this is the second time Selena surprises fans with her new look. It hasn’t been confirmed which video the singer is shooting for, after releasing her hit Rare.

There are speculations that the Lose You To Love Me singer is filming a music video for an unreleased single called “Boyfriend,” which she teased about in a talk show recently saying, “There’s a few other songs that I couldn’t help but want to exist [that didn’t make the album Rare] so I can’t really tell when, but one of my favourite tracks is called ‘Boyfriend’ so I can’t wait for people to hear that one.”

Gomez’s songwriter Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels spoke about “Boyfriend” and how the unreleased single came about while talking to a leading magazine.

Justin and I will go to the studio before [Selena arrives] and gather ideas,” Michaels revealed. “I’ll text her to say, ‘What kind of mood are you in?’ One time she responded, ‘I’m feeling strong and happy,’ and then she said at the end of the text: ‘I really just want a boyfriend.’ I thought we should do a song about it. She got to the studio, and it all started flowing together.”

The magazine reports that the full title of the track is “I Want a Boyfriend,” although it is not directly confirmed nor denied by Selena.

“One of the lyrics is about a fine line between a want and a need,” Tranter hinted. “Yes, she wants a boyfriend, but it’s not a need. She’s okay on her own, and we all should be too.”
