Has Penn Badgley Criticized Netflix And Its Fans for support of serial Killers Like Jeffrey Dahmer?

Penn Badgley criticized Netflix and its viewers for romanticizing real-life serial killers like Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer.

Penn Badgley is best known for his role in You as Joe Goldberg, a stalker, obsessive lover, and murderer. However, he does not want fans to be drawn to the character. The actor has now accused Netflix, a major streaming service, of romanticising actual serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer. Given that his show, You, streams on the same platform, this is somewhat unexpected. To find out what he has to say, scroll down.

In a recent conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Penn was asked what he has to say about fans and audiences being attracted to real-life serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy.

Replying to the question, the Gossip Girl said,” You need to take a look at that.” “Inside,” he told the news organization, grinning. He said, “Now, to be fair, with our show, we have built something where you’re meant to fall in love with him, so that’s on us,” when discussing his own character Joe Goldberg in You.

He added further, “Ted Bundy? That’s on you! Jeffrey Dahmer? That’s on—that’s on Netflix, OK? That is squarely on the shoulders of Netflix!”
It should be mentioned that in the movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, Zac Efron portrayed Ted Bundy. However, in Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Evan Peters played the part of Dahmer.

On February 9, the first episode of You’s fourth season was made available on the streaming service. On March 9, the second episode of the season will be released. Along with Penn Badgley reprising his role as Joe Goldberg, Tati Gabrielle also plays Marianne Bellamy. The thriller also stars Lukas Gage, Charlotte Ritchie, Tilly Keeper, Amy-Leigh Hickman, and Ed Speleers in addition to the main cast members.
