Oprah Winfrey Reveals Personal Experience With Weight Loss Drugs Amid Criticism Of Celebrities Using Ozempic

Winfrey Expressed Her Initial Reservations About Weight Loss Drugs, Citing Her Knee Surgery As A Pivotal Moment

In a recent episode of “Oprah Daily’s The Life You Want: The State of Weight,” iconic talk show host Oprah Winfrey shared her thoughts on the controversial trend of celebrities using weight loss drugs, specifically mentioning Ozempic. Surprisingly, Winfrey disclosed her own experience with such drugs, shedding light on her weight loss journey.

Winfrey expressed her initial reservations about weight loss drugs, citing her knee surgery as a pivotal moment. “When I first started hearing about the weight loss drugs, at the same time I was going through knee surgery, and I felt, ‘I’ve got to do this on my own.’ Because if I take the drug, that’s the easy way out,” she explained, as reported by PEOPLE.

The media mogul went on to reveal that she had endured tabloid scrutiny for over two decades, facing relentless criticism and body-shaming. “You all know I’ve been on this journey for most of my life. My highest weight was 237 pounds,” Winfrey disclosed, echoing her commitment to her health and wellness.

“I don’t know if there is another public person whose weight struggle has been exploited as much as mine over the years,” Winfrey added, highlighting the pervasive intrusion into her personal journey.

Advocating for body acceptance, Winfrey questioned societal pressures, stating, “Shouldn’t we all just be more accepting of whatever body you choose to be in? That should be your choice.”

Oprah Winfrey, known for her transparency about her health journey, particularly since her double knee surgery in 2021, emphasized the importance of appreciating one’s body.

Recently, “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Emily Simpson, 47, credited her 40-pound weight loss to Ozempic and liposuction in an Instagram video. Similarly, comedian Tracy Morgan, 54, admitted to relying on Ozempic shots to curb his appetite, sharing his positive experience on the “Today” show.

“I ain’t letting it go,” said Morgan, “It cuts my appetite in half. Now I only eat half a bag of Doritos.” These revelations from celebrities using Ozempic have ignited a broader conversation about the ethics and implications of weight loss drug endorsements in the public eye.
