Actor Noah Schnapp, known for his role in the hit web series “Stranger Things,” has come out as gay. The actor recounted how he initially confided in his co-star Millie Bobby Brown about his secret, though sharing wasn’t an easy feat for him.
When he came to terms with his se*uality, he first opened up to his twin sister, Chloe. He told Variety, “She was ecstatic. She said that she would’ve disliked the idea of me marrying another girl and having to compete with her for my attention. The fact that now it’ll be a guy, she was like, ‘Oh, he’ll be my best friend.'” Eventually, the actor shared his truth with his mother, father, and close friends.
“In the end, I decided that if I only came out to my inner circle, I would still feel like I’m hiding something. The only way to truly be myself is to tell everyone,” Noah added. He had a list of people he needed to come out to, including Millie Bobby Brown. “I kept trying to do it in person with her, and it was too difficult. So then I FaceTimed her one day in the middle of a Party City and I said, ‘Millie, I’m gay.’ And her response was,” he continued. Mimicking Millie’s accent, he added her reaction, “‘Oh, Schnapper! You finally told me!'”
Noah first revealed his se*ual orientation in a TikTok video posted on August 5, saying, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years, and all they said was ‘we know’.” The short video featured him mouthing the words, “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious.” In the caption, the actor stated that he had more in common with his “Stranger Things” character than he had thought, referring to their shared se*uality.
