The AI-generated images amassed millions of likes and views on Twitter (previously known as X), sparking a reaction from Katy Perry herself. In a lighthearted response on Instagram, the singer humorously addressed the viral fake pictures, juxtaposing them with the caption, “couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work”. Additionally, she shared a screenshot of a text conversation with her mother, who had been convinced by the AI images. Katy jokingly warned, “Lol, mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!”
As per Page Six, Katy Perry has been absent from the Met Gala since 2022. In previous years, she made memorable appearances donning outfits such as a chandelier and a cheeseburger. In contrast, the theme for this year’s Met Gala was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” with the dress code set as “The Garden of Time.”
