Jennifer Lopez Celebrates The 25th Anniversary Of Her Iconic Movie ‘Selena’

JLo shared a number of videos and photos from her time on the movie and during the promotional tour to mark the 25th year of Selena.

Jennifer Lopez has paid tribute to her iconic movie Selena, which was released exactly 25 years ago. The actress was starred as the iconic Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla for the 1997 biopic. And JLo took to Instagram to share some clips from the movie and other interviews discussing the role jumpstarted her legendary career.

Along with the photos and clips, she penned in the caption, “What a very special day… we’re celebrating 25 years of SELENA! Today we celebrate and honor Selena’s legacy and music.” Marry Me actress continues, “This movie means so much to me… Selena and her family mean so much to me, and I was so lucky to be chosen to play her.”

She concluded the note while penning, “I’ll never forget this time in my life and it’s an honor as an artist to have been part of the magic that is this movie.” JLo shared a number of videos and photos from her time on the movie and during the promotional tour, including her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Meanwhile, Winfrey asked if it was tough becoming the iconic singer with her family on set every day, Lopez said that she knew it was going to be a tough role going into it, and that she put a lot of work into studying the singer’s life. She said she was working on another movie when she got the role and she was constantly in her trailer watching ‘videos all day’ and listening to her ‘music all day.’

Lopez also shared a video from the final rehearsal from her Super Bowl halftime show performance in 2020, where she recalled a story about working on Selena. “I studied her tapes so… to the step, to the finger, to the everything and I was like, everything I did was five steps to the right, I didn’t want to get anything wrong, her lips, anything,” Lopez began.
