Crazy Heart star Jeff Bridges gave an update on his months-long battle with cancer on Monday. He said that his cancer is in remission. The actor posted a message on his website that a 9-inch by 12-inch mass “has shrunk down to the size of a marble.” Bridges has been undergoing treatments since he was diagnosed with lymphoma last year.

Academy Award-winning actor revealed his cancer diagnosis in October 2020. “I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma,” Bridges said on Twitter after quoting his iconic “The Big Lebowski” character, The Dude. “Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.”

On his website Monday, Bridges shared a post he wrote in March but decided not to share until he got a handle on his COVID-19.

The post explained in January, Bridges was exposed to COVID-19, and he and his wife tested positive. He was then receiving chemotherapy. Although his wife spent five days in the hospital battling COVID-19 while he had to spent five weeks. He explained, “The reason I’m there so long was my immune system is shot from the chemo.” “My dance with Covid makes my cancer look like a piece of cake,” he added. He also said that his “brush with mortality” gave him a gift: “Life is brief and beautiful. Love is all around us, & available @ all times.”

He also said that he has recovered from COVID-19 and being vaccinated may have contributed to his quick recovery. He further added that earlier he has needed oxygen assistance to walk around but now he has been working with his medical team on stopping the assistance.

In the note, he wrote, “I had a goal – walking my daughter Hayley down the aisle.” While thanking his medical team, he said “I was able to not only walk Hay down the aisle but do the father/bride dance without oxygen.” He also included a video of the dance. Bridges added that COVID ‘kicked my ass pretty good’ but that it is in the rear view mirror.” He also wrote, being ‘double vaccinated’ is the reason that he improved quickly from the virus. It is not clear from his post if he meant he received two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines to be fully vaccinated, or if he is been fully vaccinated twice.

Bridges has given a great performance in the film, including The Big Lebowski, True Grit, Starman, Iron Man, and The Last Picture Show. He won an Oscar for best actor in 2010 for his movie Crazy Heart.
