Italian Drama The Good Mothers Wins The Best Drama Award At Berlin Film Festival

Berlin Film Festival is happening with zest and zeal. Many foreign movies and dramas were featured in the festival but a special mention was given to the Italian drama The Good Mothers. Featuring in Disney+ Italian; this Italian drama The Good Mothers won in the Berlinale series at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival for Best TV Drama. A true story of three women who bring down a crime syndicate that worked with a female prosecutor to bring down its empire.

Produced by House Productions of UK-Italy, a Fremantle Corporation, The Good Mothers is based on the novel of the same name by Alex Perry. Stephen Butchard adapted the book and was directed by Julian Jarrold (Kinky Boots, Brideshead Revisited) and Elisa Amoroso (Fidelity). The first two episodes of the six-part series were screened at the Berlinale as part of the festival’s sidebar for high-end television dramas.

The first trio of the Berlinale Series Awards jury, consisting of Danish screenwriter Mette Heeno, said Good Mothers “got us with their multi-layered characters, that have been handled with care. and is allowed to develop before our eyes. The creators of the series have taken meticulous care to recreate an authentic and detailed world presented by an all-star cast, with a performance that has our hearts beating.”

A Special Mention went to the Viaplay series Arkitekten (The Architect), a dark satire about the near future in Copenhagen, by writer duo Nora Landsrod and Kristian Kilde and director Kerren Lumer-Klabbers.
