Director Shawn Levy Teases Deadpool 3

The highly anticipated film, Deadpool 3, is set to release on November 8, 2024.

Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy recently gets candid on the upcoming film. The director promised the film would retain the ‘hardcore’ violence of its predecessors after joining the Disney-owned Marvel Cinematic Universe. Shawn also confirmed that filming will start in May for the highly anticipated sequel due out in November 2024, according to an article on Tuesday by Collider.

Levy said the sequel he’s developing with franchise star Ryan Reynolds and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will be R-rated just like the first two instalments. He shared, “We are writing, rewriting, developing, and prepping ‘Deadpool’ every day now. It is such a blast to laugh at every day. It is so delicious to hear and write and come up with these scenes where people are just talking foul.”

Levy continues, “And the violence is in your face and hardcore, and it’s very much a ‘Deadpool movie.” ‘And it has Logan in it. And it has Wolverine in it. It’s too fun. I’m having so much fun, and I haven’t even hit the shooting floor yet,’ added Levy, referencing the addition of Hugh Jackman, 54, and his superhero character Wolverine to the sequel. The film’s R-rating appears to be safe as Levy revealed that he still regrets cutting The Internship to change its rating from R-rated to PG-13 rated.

While talking about the R-rating, Levy added, “One of the few regrets in my career is that I got strong-armed into recutting The Internship from an R to a PG-13. I still regret it because the R-rated version of Vince and Owen in ‘The Internship’ was way better. And me of today would not have succumbed like me of 20, whatever, 12 years ago.” Levy also confirmed that shooting will start ‘on or about’ May and noted that generally more time is needed in post-production for films that rely heavily on computer-generated special effects.
