Squid Game Season 2 Release Date
The final script for Squid Game season one took Hwang about a decade to pen. He began developing the record-breaking series in 2009 and kept it on his hard drive for years before pitching it to Netflix in 2016. Taking this into account, Squid Game Season 2 will not be going to release before 2024.

However, on the Critics Choice red carpet, Hwang told Variety that writing for the season is in the earliest stage of development and he hadn’t actually begun writing it yet. While pointing out his head, the creator said, “It’s here. Not on the page, it’s here.” He added, “Everything is secret. I cannot tell anything.” Currently, Hwang is hoping that season two will premiere on Netflix by the end of 2024.

Squid Game Season 2 Cast
As we can recall, most of the characters of Squid Game season 1 were dead, which really limits how many of them we can reasonably expect to see return for the second season. While talking to Associated Press, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that Lee Jung-Jae will return as Gi-Hun.

Other stars including Wi Ha-Joon, Hwang Jun-ho, and Gong Yoo could also reprise their character Jun-hon, In-ho, and the recruiter, respectively. However, HoYeon Jung and Oh Yeong-Su probably won’t be coming back as their characters are presumed dead in the first season.

On the red carpet at the PGA awards in March 2022, Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that season 2 would have new games. But her also admitted that he hadn’t even started writing yet. Hwang detailed, “All I can say is that there will be more fantastic games.” He explained, “I’m basically brainstorming and collecting ideas for Season 2 right now. I haven’t even begun the writing process.”

Will There Be Squid Game Season 3?
The answer to this speculation is ‘Maybe!’ Hwang told Korean broadcaster KBS in December 2021 that he was ‘in talks with Netflix over season two as well as season three.’ He added, “We will come to a conclusion any time soon.” Also considering billions of views of this Korean thriller drama, we can expect Squid Game season 3 as well.
