Zoya Akhtar’s Direct Taunt TO Media, Talked About Nepotism In The Archies

Zoya said, “I have casted 4 other kids as well in this movie. But the media chose to focus on these 3 kids only. And now the media is asking us about nepotism.”

The Archies, a film giving cheerful and retro vibes, has been in talks because of the casting. Zoya Akhtar directed ‘The Archies’ is set to release on Netflix on December 7. Its poster and trailer are out, but now the movie is on a controversial turn due to the starcast. Zoya AKhtar expressed her major disappointment about the media being hypocrite. The media is being biased towards the 4 youngsters out of 7, in The Archies movie.

In the recent interview of Zoya Akhtar with Film Companion, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, the screen writer of this film, clearly put their opinions about the blame of nepotism. This film casts Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda, these star kids as well as Yuvraj Menda, Mihir Ahuja, Vedang Raina and Dot. But out of these 7 kids, the media is giving attention to only starkids Suhana Khan, daughter of SRK, Khushi Kapoor daughter of Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan ‘s grandson Agastya Nanda.

Zoya was asked whether, while casting for the movie, Suhana, Agastya and Khushi’s last names really made any difference. Replying to this, Zoya said, “I have casted 4 other kids as well in this movie. But the media chose to focus on these 3 kids only. And now the media is asking us about nepotism.” She continued, saying, “What I find fascinating is there were seven kids on that poster and the media only spoke about three. And then turns around and tells us about nepotism. Actually, you’re the one not giving the other four attention. You robbed their moment and it’s heartbreaking to see. We’ve put seven kids out there. You’ve just ignored four. And you took away their moment. So sorry. Your problem.”

When Reema Kagti was asked about the same, she cross questioned the media. She asked them whether they knew the names of their four kids? She expressed her grief about those four kids towards whom the media is being biased.   Talking about the process of auditioning, Zoya clearly mentioned that she chose the one she felt was right from all amongst who were there to work in the acting field.

The Archies revolve around the 1960s Riverdale, India and these 7 kids. The songs and trailer have already made people crazy and now people are really excited about watching it.
