“When You Do A Job Successfully, People Typecast You”, Jay Bhanushali Reveals His Anchoring Journey

To keep himself away from daily soaps, this actor kept himself engaged in anchoring and, indeed, he was doing so well that he got stereotyped as an anchor.

Jay  Bhanushali, a prominent face on the reality show who is famous for his crazy-humorous anchoring style, turned 39 on December 25. Jay hosted not only TV reality shows but also many award functions and kept people engaged with the show till the end.  But Jay didn’t start his journey as an anchor. He started as an actor who gained tremendous popularity once and this year he made his comeback to acting after almost 8 years through Sony’s romantic television series “Hum Rahein Na Rahein Hum”.

Jay Bhanushali debuted with Disney’s television series “Dhoom Machao Dhoom” but got more recognition through “Kayamath”, a TV serial aired on Star plus. His character Neev Shergill had a huge female fan following. After that, he got back to back a lot of work. He appeared in “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” as a contestant and there someone spotted his skills for anchoring. And this is how Jay Bhanushali signed his first ever anchoring project with “Dance India Dance”.

To keep himself away from daily soaps, this actor kept himself engaged in anchoring and, indeed, he was doing so well that he got stereotyped as an anchor. He said, “When you do a job and do it successfully, people typecast you very easily. Even success has some drawbacks. When I started anchoring, people do not see me more than that. I didn’t get the right role, and then I was like, I will wait, and it became 8 years.”

In between, he worked in movies like “Ek Paheli Leela” and “Hate Story 2” and, almost 15 years later, he hit the television serial screen with “Hum Rahein Na Rahein Hum”.
