When Feroz Khan’s Mercedes Hit Shakti Kapoor’s Car And Landed The Latter In The Film ‘Qurbani’

Disheartened By The Incident, Shakti Kapoor Later Visited Writer Kk Shukla's House.

Bollywood veteran actor Shakti Kapoor is best known for his iconic negative roles in Indian cinema and has been associated with some of the industry’s finest films. The actor, renowned for his portrayal of the villainous character Vikram Singh in the 1980 film ‘Qurbani,’ shared an interesting anecdote with DD Urdu about how he landed a role in a Feroz Khan’s movie.

Kapoor recalled the incident, stating that he was driving his Fiat on Bandra’s Linking Road when a Mercedes attempted to overtake his car and collided with it, forcing his car to the side. Initially angry and intending to demand compensation for the damages, Kapoor’s demeanor changed when he saw the driver of the Mercedes, who turned out to be none other than Feroz Khan. Kapoor introduced himself as an actor and requested an opportunity in the film industry. Feroz Khan, surprised by the encounter, responded, ‘We’ll see. But what have you done to my car?’ and left, attracting a crowd of onlookers.

Disheartened by the incident, Shakti Kapoor later visited writer KK Shukla’s house. Shukla, upon hearing the story, commented, ‘Teri kismat kharab hai (Your luck is bad),’ referring to the car damage costs Kapoor would have to bear. Shukla then revealed that he had attempted to recommend Kapoor for a negative role in a film, but the director insisted on casting the young man who had the accident with Feroz Khan earlier that day.

Shukla explained, ‘When that guy got out of his car, Feroz Khan got scared, thinking he might hit him. I want a villain like him who can scare people. He said, “I want that guy.”‘ Kapoor promptly informed Shukla that he was the person who had the accident with Feroz Khan. Shukla immediately called Feroz Khan to inform him that the person he had been searching for was sitting right in front of him. This twist of fate ultimately led to Shakti Kapoor’s entry into the movie ‘Qurbani.’
