When Bhagyashree Spoke About Her Break After Debut, Marriage & Film Career With Husband Himalay Dassani

Bhagyashree couldn't grab the success of her debut and she married to Himalay Dassani right after her debut film, which changed many things in her film career.

Actress Bhagyashree, an evergreen beauty of Bollywood celebrates 56 years of her life today. Her elegant beauty can’t make anyone think that she has turned 56. Bhagyashree may have appeared in many movies and television shows but till date everyone including Gen Z kids knows her for the role of Suman in the movie “Maine Pyar Kiya” released in 1989. But Bhagyashree’s decision to not appear on screen after Maine Pyar Kiya, marriage at a very young age and coming back to films with husband and newcomer Himalay Dassani changed many equations in her career.

Bhagyashree got married to Himalay Dassani in the year 1990. A year before her wedding, she made her debut in Bollywood with Salman Khan through Maine Pyar Kiya. No doubt, that film was a megahit. It influenced many college going youngsters that time. People just loved Bhagyashree’s performance and she gained tremendous popularity after that. Her career was at its peak right after her debut but Bhagyashree couldn’t grab that opportunity. Her marriage was indeed a bold move which somehow affected her career but of course she didn’t feel the same. In a Lehren Podcast, when she was asked about why she didn’t benefit herself after her debut’s success she answered that she was busy with other things like marriage, family planning etc.

Bhagyashree made her comeback through the film “Qaid Mein Hai Bulbul” which marked the debut of Himalay Dassani in Bollywood . She signed many films after her marriage but she put an unusual condition in front of every producer to cast her husband Himalay as an opposite lead to her. She told producers that if they wanted to sign her in any film, they had to sign her husband along with her. Talking about this she said, “Meine toh koi jabardasti nahi ki (I didn’t force anyone).” Her husband Himalay said, “Producer came home and then signed; we didn’t go to anyone’s place to find a job. If you don’t want to cast then just don’t. There is no compulsion. It’s a free country.” Himalay was also asked whether he had caught on his wife’s success. He replied saying, “No, if I had to catch it I would have caught it that time, why after 2 years.”

After her first film Bhagyahsree made all her film with Himalay including “Tyagi”, “Payaal” and some more movies. But not all worked in her favor.
