Vivek Agnihotri Reveals Why OTT Platforms Rejected ‘The Kashmir Files’

During an exclusive interview, Vivek Agnihotri reveals why many OTT platforms rejected his film 'The Kashmir Files'.

Vivek Agnihotri’s latest film ‘The Kashmir Files’ has turned out to be an unexpected blockbuster. With no big star cast, no advertisements and media coverage, the film reached the audience in an organic manner and touched their heart and soul. The making of ‘the Kashmir Files’ was never an easy process, neither was the process of marketing and release. Director Vivek Agnihotri faced several hurdles and tackled each one of them eventually.

In an exclusive interview with senior journalist Bharathi S Pradhan, Vivek Agnihotri decoded all the difficulties that he faced. He said, “Till two days after the film got released, the mainstream media was not ready to give us an inch of space. Nobody was willing to give us space unless somebody is an honest journalist, but these days it is very difficult. Secondly, inside this so-called Bollywood or film industry, nobody was willing to do this film, thinking that they might not get any work after they do a film on this topic.”

He further added, “The third challenge was OTTs. Some OTTs, not all, said that you can’t use the word ‘Islamic Terrorism’. So, these were the major hurdles. But truth wins.”
